Elephant Hair Ring - Vintage

I recently came across a small stash of these very rare and beautiful Elephant Hair Rings. I've been informed they date from the 19th century, when wearing elephant hair jewelry was very popular. The are held together with a sterling silver section. Please note the diameter of each individual hair varies from ring to ring, but each is natural glossy black. Some have very faint dark brown streaks.

The actual hair is from the elephants tail, it falls out naturally, is gathered from the bush, then handmade into jewelry. No elephant is harmed while gathering this beautiful material.
